Digitalization of National Heritage

In 2018, the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of European Integration of the Republic of Serbia, which represents the Serbian National Authority of the Interreg-IPA CBC Hungary-Serbia Programme, launched an online platform www.srbija-projektieu.rs, dedicated to several important national cultural monuments in Serbia. The main goals behind the project of digitalizing the national heritage monuments are introducing them to a wide range of audiences, as well as highlighting the significance of their renovation and the importance of using EU funds in the field of culture and creativity.

Besides the historic background, the information about their renovation projects, and video clips, this online platform also provides visitors with virtual tours of the five featured monuments – the Subotica Synagogue, the Bač Fortress, the Church complex in Jablanica, the Pirot Fortress, and the Golubac Fortress.

Restoration of these five monuments was co-financed by the European Union, through IPA cross-border cooperation programmes between Serbia and the neighbouring countries – Bulgaria, Hungary Montenegro and Romania.

The Subotica Synagogue and the Bač Fortress were renovated through the IPA-CBC Hungary-Serbia programme (2007-2013) – the projects DIAMOND and FRESCO. More information about these projects is available in the publication the Project Catalogue.
